3. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
BASIC USE:
Nelson CLK is a family of flexible firestop sealants used to seal against the spread of flame, smoke, gases and water in fire-rated walls and floors that have been penetrated for the passage of items such as pipes, conduit, bus duct or electrical cables. It is particularly useful for sealing penetrating items which are subject to movement and vibration when a positive seal is required. Nelson CLK, N/S (Non-Sag) is a highly adhesive sealant suitable for wall, floor and overhead applications. Nelson CLK, S/L (Self-Leveling) is ideally suited for floor applications due to its exceptional flowability, thus eliminating the need for additional labor.
COMPOSITION AND MATERIALS:
Nelson CLK, N/S and S/L, are both one-part silicone based elastomeric firestop sealants that emit no hazardous, combustible, or irritating fumes during or after installation, curing or disposal. Nelson CLK is also non-shrinking, asbestos-free and requires no mixing.
APPLICABLE STANDARDS:
UL 1479, Fire Tests of Through-Penetration Firestops. ATM E-814, Fire Tests of Through-Penetration Fire Stops. ASTM E-119, Fire Tests of Building Construction and Materials.
APPLICABLE CODES:
Nelson CLK meets the requirements of all three model building codes (National Building Code, Uniform Building Code, Standard Building Code), as well as the National Electrical Code, the Life Safety Code, and most state and city codes. For specific approval information contact Nelson.
LIMITATIONS:
Nelson CLK is a silicone based formulation and will react in a similar manner to other silicone based compounds. The user should test for compatibility before exposing Nelson CLK to chemicals or solvents.

5. INSTALLATION:
Choose the appropriate firestop system using Nelson application data sheets, the UL Fire Resistance Directory, Factory Mutual Approval Guide, or other directories of acceptable designs. No special skills or tools are required. To ensure adequate adhesion, all surfaces shall be clean and free of dust, grease, oil, loose materials, rust or other substances. Apply the required depth of Nelson CLK beginning on the edge of the opening (use over various backing materials as required). Make sure the Nelson CLK makes complete contact with the inside surface of the opening and also the surface of the penetrating item. The suggested method(s) of installation include: caulking gun, pumping and trowelling.
6. AVAILABILITY AND COST:
Nelson CLK is available through authorized distribution worldwide. Contact Nelson for the location of the nearest distributor who is able is able to provide cost and availability information.
