STORAGE:
When stored between 40°F (4°C) and 90°F (32°), unopened Nelson FSC has
a shelf life of 12 months from date of shipment. Keep from freezing.
Nelson FSC cable
coating is easily applied by brush or spry and it adheres well to cables,
allowing for vertical or overhead application.
SURFACE PREPARATION:
Surface should be clean and free of dust, dirt, oil, grease, loose materials,
rust or other substances. Provide drop cloths or other satisfactory
covering or protection of adjacent areas in accordance with good work
practices.
APPLICATION:
Apply a thin coat of the material on first pass and allow it to set
(this will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes). Then apply second coat
to bring total wet thickness up to approximately 1/8 inch. This will
yield a total dry film thickness of 1/16 inch, which is the recommended
thickness. Avoid disturbing coating for 4 hours after application.
SPRAY EQUIPMENT:
Pump: Graco Bulldog Hydra-Mastic, 30.1 (206-303) for 55-gal. drums.
Graco Bulldog Hydra-spray, (224-624) for 5-gal. pails.
Gun: Graco Hydra-Mastic- less diffuser (207-300)
Tip: Reverse-A-Clean Nozzle with GHD 637 tip (222-674)
Swivel: Mastic Gun Swivel (207-947)
Hose: Hydra-Mastic Hose1/2" I.D. x 50 ft. (for distance of more than
50 ft., use 3/4" I.D. material hose). (215-227)
Air Supply: Compressor, should be capable of delivering 150 CFM minimum.
CLEANUP:
If cleaned before it has had time to set, clean with water (e.g. a wet
rag). Wash skin with soap and water. Dried spills may be removed by
scraping or by cleaning with a solvent such as Mineral Spirits or other
hi flash point, low toxicity solvent. Observe normal cleanup and/or
storage procedures with spray equipment and brushes at the end of work
shift. The coating will harden considerably overnight, so partially
used pails should be tightly recovered to avoid product wastage.
CAUTIONS:
Wear eye protection. Do not point spray gun at any part of the body.
Fluid under high pressure can penetrate the skin and cause internal
injury. Observe spray equipment manufacture's instructions and warnings.
In case of injury, obtain medical attention immediately. Water based
polymers such as Nelson FSC are somewhat conductive when wet. Moderate
hazard exists in the immediate region around coated exposed live electrical
parts (e.g. damaged insulation over energized cables). Personnel applying
coating are advised to wear electrician's rubber gloves or de-energize
cables.
